Flex football is the platform that our sport has needed for years. It gives our youth the opportunity to either play or supplement the game of football in an environment that teaches the fundamentals, while limiting exposure to high impact collisions.
Hudson Youth Football (HYFC) is open to all athletes in grades 2nd thru 8th who currently reside in the town of Hudson. HYFC is part of the Central Mass Youth Football and Cheer Conference(CMYFCC), which is an American Youth Football Association. Tackle Football is a contact sport that is outfitted, coached and designed to ensure your athletes safety, all while focusing on the positive benefits that can come from playing tackle football.
PRACTICES
- Practices are held at Sauta Field in Hudson and move to another local field in Hudson in September with lights.
- Conditioning practices begin on July 22nd.
- Safety is our number one priority, therefore we require all tackle football athletes to complete 10 hours of conditioning with their team. These practices will be without pads, and must be completed before any player is allowed to participate in any contact type drills. There are no exceptions to this rule and external activities/sports will not be allowed as a substitute to these conditioning hours. ***ALL 10 HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED WITH THE TEAM***
- Practices will be 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) through Labor Day for 2 hours. After Labor Day, practices will drop to 3 days a week.
GAMES
- The CMYFCC Jamboree will be held the weekend of August 17th/18th.
- Regular Season Games will begin the weekend of August 24th/25th (please note that we do play regular season games over Labor Day Weekend as directed by CMYFCC).
- Teams will play one game per week, typically on Saturday or Sunday, all of which are determined by the final schedule posted by CMYFCC.
- Home games will be played at Sauta Field in Hudson.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
- Equipment provided by Hudson Youth Football includes: up to date and certified five-star rated helmets, shoulder pads, game uniforms, practice pants, integrated girdle and knee-pads.
- Football players will be required to purchase cleats, mouthguards and any other optional equipment they see fit; such as athletic supporter, additional practice pants, gloves, etc.
- Football players will purchase a practice jersey if they have not purchased one already. ($20)
COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
ALL HYFC Tackle Football Coaches are certified American Youth Football Coaches. They must complete a series of certifications prior to the first practice each season. All teams are required to have a certified coach in CPR and first aid as part of their coaching staff that must be present at every tackle practice and game. Safety is our number one priority and along with sending our coaches to be certified, we continue to purchase new equipment and recertify our equipment bi-annually.
Hudson Youth Cheerleading is open to all athletes from Kindergarten through 8th grade who currently reside in the town of Hudson. We are part of the Central Mass Youth Football and Cheer Conference (CMYFCC) which is an American Youth Cheer Association. As a Hudson Youth Cheerleader, you will cheer for home games for our youth tackle football teams as well as exhibit or compete in cheer competitions. Not only does cheerleading require physical skill and strength necessary to jump, stunt or tumble, it also fosters life-skills such as discipline, teamwork and goal setting all while instilling confidence in the athlete.
PRACTICES
- Begin July 22nd (Grades K-1st start July 23rd)
- Cheer practices for Grades K-1st will be held 3 nights a week until Labor Day and will then drop down to 2 nights a week from that point forward.
- Practices for Grades 2nd-8th will practice 4 nights a week until Labor Day and then drop down to 3 nights a week moving forward. Additional practices could be added as teams get closer to competition events.
- All outdoor practices are held at Sauta Field. Outdoor practices are held until the school year begins, at that time practices will be moved to inside the Quinn middle school gym.
GAMES/COMPETITIONS
- Cheer teams will also compete in Exhibitions and Competitions throughout the season. These dates/locations will be determined by the league at a later date. There will be at least 2 Local competitions.
- Fun Comp is the first competition where the teams perform their routine and are given feedback from judges to prepare for the CMYFCC local competitions.
- Locals is an opportunity to compete against the other 30+ organizations in the CMYFCC. Teams that place will then move on to States, Regionals and possibly Nationals
*** States are typically scheduled for the first week of November and regionals are scheduled mid November***
